Gorgewalking

Remember when you were a child?

Remember being told not to play in the river? Not to get wet, muddy or dirty?

Well this activity is the most fun packed adventure there is and it certainly brings out the child in everyone!

South Wales is widely acclaimed for its gorgeous rivers and fabulous gorges and the natural landscape lends itself to it through millions of years of natural formation -perfect for this activity. This is a combined water/rock activity and uses every muscle in your body, and then finds new ones!

Gorgewalking Information
Gorgewalking is another term used for a number of similar activites including ghyll-scrambling, river running and canyonning. However "canyonning" has come from our european brethren where their water courses are a lot steeper and include the use of ropes and abseiling techniques - we just jump!

It simply means journeying along a river system - either up or down stream by walking, sliding, swimming, jumping and tackling the natural obstacles that the environment has to offer. We can jump into large pools from water level through to 25ft!

We use a number of river systems along the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park that can be suited to your individual needs.

The day will include traversing along rock walls, rock hopping, scrambling around rock steps, sliding down shoots into deep rock pools and swimming the rapids. Scrambling up waterfalls, down waterfalls, through waterfalls and off waterfalls!

We will provide all the gorgewalking safety equipment that you will need for the day including helmet, 5mm wetsuit and buoyancy aid.
